and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body that is for[a] you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
1 Corinthians 11:24, New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
The Order of Holy Communion when the service is said at Philadelphia City of Praise is a sacred event in commemoration and celebration of the sacred supper instituted by Jesus Christ as an ordinance of the Church. Holy Communion is observed in remembrance of the Lord's vicarious suffering and atoning death on the cross at Calvary for the sins of humanity.
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SUPPER
The Communion Table testifies, In Remembrance of Me. As the Baptist church observes the ordinance of Holy Communion, it is a rite engaged in symbolically. We participate in the suffering and atoning work of Christ as we partake of the sacred symbols of bread and wine symbolic of the broken body of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His shed blood at Calvary for our salvation.
Join us at the Lord's Table each Second Sunday as we commune together in commemoration and celebration of the suffering and salvation of Jesus Christ our Savior and soon coming King!
